Welcome to Ontario School Safety ("we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using our website, resource pages, submission forms, and letter template generator (collectively, the "Services"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms").

If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our website or Services.

1. Eligibility and Scope

This website is operated by a volunteer-run non-profit organization based in Ontario, Canada. It is intended to provide general informational and educational resources to the public.

2. No Professional Advice Disclaimer

All content provided on this website—including articles, guides, resources, and text generated by our letter templates—is for informational and educational purposes only.

No Legal or Professional Relationship: Your use of this website does not create a lawyer-client, counselor-client, or professional-client relationship of any kind between you and our organization or its volunteers.

3. Use of the Letter Template Generators

Our letter generator tool is provided purely to simplify communication with local Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) or School Board Trustees. We provide general template text for educational purposes. We do not guarantee the response or action of any government official or school board employee, and users are ultimately responsible for the final accuracy and accuracy of the content they choose to send.

User Responsibility: You are entirely and solely responsible for the final content, accuracy, truthfulness, and delivery of any letter or document generated using our templates.
No Liability for Edits: We do not review, endorse, or verify the specific factual claims you input into these templates.
Misuse: You agree not to use our letter generator to harass, threaten, abuse, or defame any individual, government official, or business entity.

4. User Submissions ("Share Your Story")

When you submit a story, testimonial, or narrative through our website forms, you agree to the following terms:

License Grant: You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to view, host, store, edit, highlight, and publish your submission on our website, social media channels, and public campaign materials. You may withdraw your submission in writing and we will attempt to remove the submission from public view.
Ownership & Authenticity: You retain ownership of your original words, but you warrant that the story is your own work and does not violate the privacy, copyright, or publicity rights of any third party. Any content you submit must be accurate and lawful.
Anonymity Preferences: We will strictly respect the privacy option (e.g., full anonymity or first-name only) you select at the time of submission.
Moderation Rights: We reserve the absolute right to reject, edit for clarity/length, or remove any submission at our sole discretion, without notice.

5. User Submissions (Volunteer Application through Google Forms)

Any information submitted through website links (including external Google Forms) must be accurate, must not violate any laws, and does not automatically guarantee acceptance into any program or volunteer role.

6. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, all original content, logos, designs, graphics, and text on this website are the intellectual property of Ontario School Safety and are protected by Canadian and international copyright laws. You may download or print copies of our informational resources for personal, non-commercial use, provided you do not remove our attribution or copyright markings.

7. Donations and Third-Party Links

Our website includes links to third-party platforms, including our crowdfunding campaign on Zeffy and GoFundMe and our email newsletter platform, EmailOctopus. We also share various external resources, media articles and links to other websites. These links are provided for your convenience only. Ontario School Safety does not control, endorse, or assume responsibility for the content, security, or terms of use of any external website or financial platform.

We do not control, operate, or assume responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of third-party websites.
Financial contributions made via GoFundMe are subject to GoFundMe’s own Terms of Service. Financial contributions made via Zeffy are subject to Zeffy’s own Terms of Service.
As stated on our donation pages, we are an Ontario non-profit but not a registered charity with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA); therefore, we cannot issue official tax receipts.

8. Limitation of Liability and "As-Is" Provision

Our website and Services are provided on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.

To the maximum extent permitted by law under the Province of Ontario, Ontario School Safety, its directors, officers, and volunteers shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your access to, use of, or inability to use this website, its information, or its tools.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any legal action or dispute arising out of these Terms shall be brought exclusively in the courts located in Ontario.

10. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Any changes will be posted directly to this page with an updated "Effective Date." Continued use of the website after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
